🛏️ How to wash satin pillowcases properly!
Satin pillowcases are not only elegant but also wonderfully gentle on skin and hair. To keep them shiny and soft for a long time, they require gentle care. But don't worry—with a few simple steps, your pillowcases will stay like new!
🧺 What you need:
-
Washing machine or sink
-
Mild detergent
-
Laundry net (optional, but recommended)
-
Clothes rack
-
Iron (optional)
🌀 Step-by-step instructions:
1. Use a laundry net – sensible protection for your satin
A laundry net is optional but recommended—especially if you machine wash your satin pillowcase with other clothes. It protects the delicate fabric from friction, snagging, and damage caused by zippers, buttons, or rough materials like denim.
Good to know: If you're not washing heavily textured clothes, you can do without a net – just make sure you use a gentle wash cycle.
2. Use only gentle detergents
Avoid fabric softeners or bleach—these will damage the delicate satin fibers. A mild, liquid detergent is perfectly sufficient.
3. Gentle wash cycle & cold water
Choose the delicate or hand wash cycle at a low temperature. This protects the material from unnecessary stress and preserves its shine.
4. Air dry instead of dryer
After washing, gently shake it out and hang it to dry. Satin doesn't like heat, so please don't put it in the dryer!
5. Ironing? Only when necessary
If you prefer a completely smooth finish, iron on a low heat setting and always inside out – ideally with a thin cloth between the ironing boards. Wrinkles usually smooth out on their own once the cover is back on your pillow.
💡 Our tip:
You can also wash your satin pillowcase with other lightweight items—we do this regularly ourselves! Just make sure there are no rough fabrics or hard parts (e.g., zippers) in the wash.
